# I cannot open downloaded office files in Microsoft Edge

## Opening downloaded Word, Excel and Powerpoint files in Edge results in error "Service Unavailable. We are currently experiencing technical difficulties. Please try again later."

### Microsoft Edge - Opening Office files in the browser

#### What is happening

Edge is downloading office files into your downloads folder however when you go to open them from the Edge Downloads list, it tries to open the file in the consumer version of office online (live.com) rather than the business version.

Opening the files from your downloads folder in Windows Explorer should work.

#### How to resolve

![Edge-icon](https://help.stalbansdiocese.org/hs-fs/hubfs/Edge-icon.png?width=128&height=128&name=Edge-icon.png)Change Edge to open Office files in your Microsoft 365 desktop apps rather than using QuickView in Edge:

1. Open Microsoft Edge
2. Go to **Settings** \> **Downloads**
3. Toggle **Open Office files in the browser** to **Off**
