How do I update my iPhone, iPad or Google Pixel Phone?

For Cyber Essentials we only allow access on iPhones, iPads or Android devices that are running up to date software. If you've been asked to update your diocesan device or been blocked from access please update your device.

 

Warning: If you are abroad with your diocesan device please wait until you return home to do download updates as you have limited data usage abroad. Using unauthorised data abroad can be very costly.

Note: If you are in the UK, you may use mobile data to download updates because your device has unlimited data in the UK. However we recommend connecting to WiFi as it will typically be quicker and more stable than using mobile data.

How to update an iPhone or iPad or Google Pixel Phone

  1. Start the update when prompted or go to:
    1. iPhone & iPad:
      1. apple_settings-png Settings > General > Software Update
    2. Google Pixel Phone:
      1. ⚙️Settings > System > Software updates
  2. Follow the onscreen instructions
    1. Plug device in to complete installation if battery is near 50% or less.
    2. An update involves a restart of your device. If it has not restarted please check the status of the update in Software Update as it might be waiting for your confirmation to install the update and enter your passcode.
