How do I update my iPhone or iPad?

For Cyber Essentials we only allow access on iPhones or iPads that are running up to date iOS. If you've been asked to update your diocesan device or been blocked from access please update your device.

Warning:If you are abroad with your diocesan device please wait until you return home to do download updates as you have limited data usage abroad. Using unauthorised data abroad can be very costly.

Note: If you are in the UK, you may use mobile data to download updates because your device has unlimited data in the UK. However we recommend connecting to WiFi as it will typically be quicker and more stable than using mobile data.

Start the update when prompted or go to:
1. Settings
2. General
3. Software Update
4. Follow the onscreen instructions
Plug device in to complete installation if battery is near 50% or less.
An update involves a restart of your device. If it has not restarted please check the status of the update in Software Update as it might be waiting for your confirmation to install the update and enter your passcode.
