You may have inadvertently allowed a website to provide notifications from their site. Learn how to remove these from Google Chrome.
How did notifications start?
When you visit some websites, a popup notice asking you to show notifications from the site may appear at the top. If you have selected Allow then you will be getting notifications whether you're actively browsing that website or not.
How to turn off and manage notifications in Google Chrome
-
Open Chrome > select the three dots in the upper-right corner > Settings.
-
Select Privacy and security on the left > select Site Settings on the right
-
Scroll down to Permissions > Notifications.
-
To prevent all Show notification popups like the example above, select Don't allow sites to send notifications. Note this does not affect sites you've already allowed to send you notifications - for those and to add exceptions, continue to the next step.
-
To remove already allowed sites or to add an exception, use the Not allowed and Allowed lists further down.
-
To disable Chrome notifications from a particular site, under the Allowed list select the 3 dots to the right of the site’s name and select Remove or Block
-
To allow a site that’s currently on your Not Allowed list to send you notifications again, select the 3 dots to the right of the site’s name and select Allow
