I cannot connect to a home printer or another printer outside of the office from my diocesan Windows computer

Connecting to a printer on your home network / WiFi and other locations

By default all non-office network (ethernet and WiFi) connections are classed as 'Public' which means you won't be able to see other devices on the network you're on, including printers.

  1. Raise a support ticket and the IT Team will change your network classification to 'Private' if appropriate.
  2. Add a printer as normal:
Add a printer or scanner in Windows
  3. If it asks you for administrator credentials during setup or you'd like the manufacturer's software to be installed, please contact the IT Team through a support ticket.

is probably why you couldn't see the printer on your home network.

I've now changed your home WiFi connection to 'Private'. Please try adding your home printer again. If it asks for admin credentials reply to this email and we'll arrange a time.
