My diocesan laptop, iPhone or iPad is lost or has been stolen, what do I do?

Report the loss to the IT Team immediately; we may be able to help you locate the device.

  1. Don't panic. Your device is encrypted and secured behind your user credentials therefore it will be difficult to steal personal data from it.
  2. Raise a support ticket or call the IT Team on 01727 615624 if you are unable to raise a ticket.
    1. If you believe your user credentials and/or passcodes have been compromised as well please let us know and we can change these remotely for you.
  3. All diocesan computers, iPhones and iPads have an asset label on them with details of how to contact us if the device has been found.
  4. Your device is managed by a cloud server so if it is connected to the internet the IT Team should be able to communicate with the device remotely to:
    1. Lock the device
    2. Send a message to the screen for anybody who finds the device to see
    3. Trigger an alarm on the device
    4. Use geolocation to locate the device
    5. Wipe the device
  5. If the device cannot be recovered then we will decide on a case-by-case basis whether an insurance claim can be made.
    1. Please report any thefts to the police and keep a record of the crime reference number for any potential insurance claims.
