Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is an additional verification step that makes your sign-in experience more secure. When you turn on MFA, you are prompted to enter a verification code from an in an authenticator app when you sign in to your account.
How to setup multi-factor authentication (MFA) on Zoom?
- Sign in at https://us02web.zoom.us/signin#/login
- A prompt will show Two-factor Authentication Required. There are 2 options to choose from:
- Authentication App - Use a mobile phone or computer authenticator app
- SMS - Codes are sent by text message to a mobile phone
OPTION 1 - AUTHENTICATION APP
- Choose Authentication App
- A QR Code will display.
- If you're using an authenticator app on a computer, select I can't scan this QR code
- If you're using an authenticator app on a computer, select I can't scan this QR code
- Open the authenticator app on your mobile phone or computer.
- Add a new account to the authenticator app.
- For mobiles, scan the QR Code shown on the Zoom webpage.
- For computers, enter the Secret Key shown on the Zoom webpage.
- Enter the code generated by the authenticator app into the Zoom webpage.
- The code will change every 30 seconds so if the code you enter doesn't work, ensure you are using the current one displayed in the authenticator app.
- Select Verify
OPTION 2 - SMS
- Choose SMS
- Under Country Code type United Kingdom (+44) and select.
- Under Phone enter a phone number that can receive text messages
- Select Send Code
- A code from Zoom will be sent to your phone in a text message.
- Enter the code from the text message into the Zoom webpage.
- Select Verify
Single-Use Recovery Codes
Once setup is complete, 12 single-use recovery codes will be displayed as a backup. Copy, download and/or print these codes and store in a safe place.
