# How do I use Outlook on the Web mail rules to tidy my mailbox?

## Quickly create rules by right-clicking on a message or go to Outlook settings to see a detailed list of available rules. We will look at Outlook rules to color-code messages, move messages based on various criteria, and set up a sweep rule.

**TIP:** Create rules in Outlook for Web rather than Outlook desktop because some rules created in the desktop application only run when Outlook desktop is open. Outlook on the Web can be found at **[outlook.office.com](https://outlook.office.com)**
