Teams Training: Outlook Teams Links

Enable the Teams add-in for Outlook and learn how to add Microsoft Teams links to your appointments and meetings. Use to troubleshoot when Teams links are missing or not working in Outlook Desktop.

Tip: Teams meetings can also be created in the Microsoft Teams app. Go to Calendar and select + New meeting in the top right. The calendar displayed is your primary calendar.


Enable or Re-Enable Teams add-in for Outlook

  1. Open Outlook Desktop
  2. Select File > Info > Slow and Disabled COM Add-ins
    Teams Slow Disabled Com Add-Ins 
    1. If the Teams add-in is listed here it means it was slow to load or is disabled in Outlook. Re-enable it by selecting Always enable this add-in and Do not monitor this add-in
  3. Go to File > Options > Add-ins > Manage COM Add-insGo...
  4. Look for the Microsoft Teams Meeting Add-in for Microsoft Office
    1. If unticked, tick it to enable > OK
    2. If it is already ticked, untick it to disable > OK > Restart Outlook > Go back to File > Options > Add-ins > Manage COM Add-insGo... > Tick to re-enable Microsoft Teams Meeting Add-in for Microsoft Office > OK
    3. If the add-in is missing:
      1. Select Cancel and go back to FileOptionsAdd-ins
      2. Select Manage > select Disabled Items in the dropdown box > Go...
      3. If listed as a disabled add-in, select the add-in > Enable > Close
        1. If you cannot find the Microsoft Teams add-in listed here either, please raise a support ticket.
      4. Select COM Add-ins in the dropdown box and ensure the Microsoft Teams Meeting Add-in for Microsoft Office is there and ticked > OK
  5. Restart Outlook

Create a new meeting with a Microsoft Teams link

Ensuring the Microsoft Teams add-in is enabled in Outlook Desktop, in calendars either:

  1. Select New Meeting > New Meeting to create a new meeting with a Teams link.
  2. Select Teams MeetingSchedule Meeting or another option
