A troubleshooting guide for displaying your laptop screen on a projector for meetings
A. Check Power
Ensure both your laptop and projector are on.
B. Check Cables
Ensure your laptop and projector are connected together with either an HDMI or VGA cable / display adaptor and are all inserted correctly.
- Try re-inserting the cables again if no signal is showing up.
- The display cable you're using might be faulty. Proceed to the next steps first but try a different cable if you still have no signal afterwards.
C. Check Source
Projectors typically have multiple inputs. Ensure you select the correct source on the projector's remote or on the unit. Choose the source that the cable is going into the projector with, ie. HDMI for an HDMI cable, VGA or PC for a VGA cable. If you're not sure, try all the source inputs to see if any work.
D. Check your Computer's Display Settings
Using a projector is the same process as using an external monitor with a laptop. The projector can either show a duplicate screen of your laptop screen, be extended as a 2nd screen or be disabled in your display settings.
- For Windows computers, use the
and P keys on the keyboard to change the display option.
