How do I enable do not disturb in Windows so I don't get any notifications when sharing my screen?

Use DND & Focus (formally presenter mode) in Windows to reduce distractions

Windows: Do Not Disturb

Note: Enabling DND in Windows...

  • Hides notification: No pop-up banners or sounds for apps, emails, or messages.
  • Stores them silently: Notifications still go to the Notification Centre for later review.
  • Does not affect app behaviour: Apps like Microsoft Teams and Zoom still run normally and can ring unless muted inside the app. See:
  1. On the keyboard press the Windows key windows-icon-16-png and N together
    1. N is for notifications
  2. Select the Bell🔔icon to toggle Do Not Disturb on and off
  3. Select Notification settings for more options including turning on DND automatically, priority notifications and more.
    1. When DND is on you will see a bell in the bottom right of your screen, called the notification area. If you want this bell to remain when DND is off select Show notification bell icon in settings.

Windows: Focus

Note: Focus is a feature that helps you stay distraction-free by setting a timed session for you to stay focused with do not disturb enabled.

  1. Open ⚙️Settings
  2. Search "Focus" or go to System > Focus
  3. Modify the duration and settings to your requirements
  4. Select Start focus session
  5. Select Stop focus session if you wish to manually stop the session
