How to use Web Sign-In for Windows

Using web sign-in on a Windows computer and what to do if you lock your screen and your username isn't remembered.

Note: Web sign-in requires an internet connection to work

Web Sign-In

On the Windows sign in screen, selecting Sign-in options will give you different sign-in methods.

  • The Key icon is the traditional username and password sign in method.
  • The Globe icon is Web Sign-In which uses the online sign-in screen, the same experience as you would see when signing into diocesan Microsoft services, eg. outlook.office.com in an internet browser.
    • Web sign-in authenticates with Microsoft's servers rather than locally on the computer which is why an internet connection is required for this sign-in method.
    • If you are having trouble signing in with your password (key icon), switch the sign-in method to Web Sign-In (Globe icon) and try again.

Signing in as Other user

By default the computer will remember the last user who signed in. If you weren't that user, select Other User.

If web sign-in is enabled you will see the following options:

  1. Sign in to stalbansdiocese.org / stalbans.anglican.org: Web Sign-In
  2. Sign in to another domain: Do not use
  3. Sign-in options: Use to change sign-in methods to the traditional sign-in screen (key) or other methods, eg. biometrics.

Troubleshoot lock screen not showing your username

If this is your regular computer, select Sign-in options followed by the key icon to enter your username and password in the traditional sign-in screen.

You will need to do this at least once for the computer to store your user credentials. After which the sign-in screen will show your username upon lock and after restarting.
