My wireless keyboard and/or mouse is not working correctly

  1. Ensure the wireless keyboard/mouse switch is on (if there is one).
  2. Ensure the correct USB dongle for the keyboard/mouse is present and inserted into a USB port.
    1. Try the USB dongle in another port. If it's located in a dock, move it to a USB port in your laptop.
      1. If the USB dongle works in the laptop and not the dock, the issue might be your dock. Check the dock has power and is connected correctly.
    2. Each wireless keyboard and mouse has its own dongle. Ensure you haven't mixed up the dongle with another keyboard / mouse's USB dongle.
  3. Check the batteries are inserted correctly.
    1. The batteries may be depleted, try new batteries.
  4. Try restarting your computer.
  5. If the cursor is jumping around the screen, the problem might be the surface the mouse is sitting on. Ensure you're using it on a flat clean surface with no grooves and the mouse is clean underneath. Try using the mouse on a smooth mouse mat or, temporarily, on a piece of paper to see if this improves the cursor.
  6. Wireless keyboards / mice can suffer from interference from other wireless devices. Signals can also be poor if the distance from the USB dongle to the keyboard / mouse is too far. Try moving the USB dongle closer to the keyboard / mouse; a USB extension cable can be used for this purpose.
