What is the Exchange account on my diocesan iPhone or iPad and why is it prompting me for my password?

This is for the native Apple apps, Apple Mail, Contacts, Calendar, Reminders and Notes.

  • On diocesan devices you may use these apps as an alternative to Outlook.
  • On personal devices these apps are blocked for use because they cannot be managed.

Enter your diocesan password when prompted or alternatively do this manually:

  1. Settings
  2. Mail
  3. Accounts
  4. Select 'Diocese of St Albans;
  5. Select 'Re-enter Password'
  6. Follow the onscreen instructions. The device may enter this for you or you will need to tap the password in manually.
  7. Once the password has been entered, choose what you would like to sync:
    1. Mail to the Apple Mail app
      1. Under Mail Days to Sync you can choose how far back you can view your emails. 1 month is the default and the longest period.
      2. If you are using the Outlook app, switch this one off.
    2. Contacts to the Contacts app
    3. Calendars to the Apple Calendars app
      1. If you are using the Outlook app, switch this one off.
    4. Reminders
    5. Notes
  8. If you see a message saying 'You can't get there from here' that means further setup is required on your account or device. Please sign into the Company Portal app first which should guide you to complete the setup. See:

  9. You will be prompted to re-enter your password here after a period of time such as every 60 days.
