When I go to my diocesan Microsoft emails, OneDrive, SharePoint or other Microsoft apps in an internet browser, I'm logged in with my personal account or another account instead

Learn how to handle multiple Microsoft accounts in Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome and other internet browsers

Multiple Microsoft Accounts

We provide Microsoft 365 accounts to all diocesan, Bishop, Archdeacon staff and associates for emails, file storage and more.

You may have another Microsoft account you've either setup yourself, eg. accounts ending @outlook.com, @live.com, @hotmail.com, or have been given by another organisation, education institution or business.

In an internet browser you can only be signed into 1 Microsoft account at a time / per session, eg. in office.com, and you may have chosen to be signed into that account everytime you open the internet browser.

Here are some options on how to handle multiple Microsoft accounts.

Option A. Switch account in the same internet browser session

  1. When signed into your Microsoft account, select your name / initials in the top right
  2. Choose Sign in with a different account

Option B. Use another internet browser

If you use one for diocesan work, eg. Microsoft Edge, use Google Chrome for your other Microsoft account(s).

  • Diocesan computers:
    • Microsoft Edge is installed by default.
    • Google Chrome may also be installed already but, if it isn't, raise a support ticket to ask for Chrome to be installed.
  • Diocesan iPhones and iPads:
  • For personal devices:
    • An internet browser will be installed by default, eg. Microsoft Edge on Windows, Safari on Apple devices, Google Chrome on Android, Samsung Internet on Samsung devices.
    • You can also install additional internet browsers. Ensure you download the installer from official sources. Eg. Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Apple App Store, Google Play Store

Option C. Create an additional browser profile

Most modern internet browsers allow you to have multiple profiles. Setup another profile for your other Microsoft account so you can have multiple Micorosft accounts open at the same time in the same application. Here are links to some guides:
