What is a PDF Portfolio?
A PDF Portfolio is like a folder containing one or more files which can be PDFs but also other file types, eg. docx, xlsx, eml etc.
Why can I not open this PDF?
Internet browsers like Microsoft Edge and Google Chrome cannot open PDF Portfolios.
You need a PDF reader like Adobe Acrobat Reader or Foxit PDF Reader or a PDF Editor like Foxit PDF Editor to open PDF Portfolios.
Please raise a support ticket if you wish to have a PDF reader software on your computer to read PDF Portfolios.
How are PDF Portfolios created?
Most PDF Editing software, like Adobe Acrobat Pro and Foxit PDF Editor, can produce PDF portfolios.
Warning: Not everybody has a PDF reader installed it is therefore not recommended to create PDF Portfolios that others will need to access.
What alternative methods is there to creating a PDF Portfolio?
Creating individual PDFs and merging together
As PDF Portfolios are not universally readable instead consider creating individual PDFs from all the files.
If you wish to have 1 PDF, merge individual PDFs together using Foxit PDF Editor (license required):
Create a ZIP file in Windows
- Select all the files you wish to be contained in a zip file
- Right-click
- Select Compress to...
- Select ZIP file
- A zip file will be created containing all the files within
Create a folder
If the files are stored in SharePoint or OneDrive, create a separate folder to contain all the files.
